Cooking 101: Cooking Basics made Gluten Free

Cooking has always been and always will be one of my favorite things to do. When I first left secondary School (or high school as some of you might know it), my parents had no idea what to do with me. My mum said, “she likes to cook, so why not send her to learn.” That only fueled my passion for cooking.

I enjoyed my time in the study kitchen, creating recipes and learning new techniques. Techniques that I implement daily in my cooking and recipe creating. Unfortunately many of the basic techniques that we learnt, like making a roux for white sauces, require gluten ingredients, something that I can no longer have. As time has gone by, I’ve been able to take some of those techniques and create them gluten free.

In this new section of the blog, Cooking 101, we’re taking some of the techniques that we’ve modified for a gluten free diet and sharing them with you in easy step by step versions so that you can create some of your favorite recipes without fear.
