Cauli-Turkey Shepherds Pie

When the garden gives you cauliflower, you make Cauli-Turkey shepherds pie! This weekend after months of waiting we finally picked our cauliflower. I must say, compared to what we get in the green grocers, it was white, huge and definitely had a look that was all its own. So, it needed something to showcase its yummy organic uniqueness. Thats when I decided to make a Shepherds Pie with a twist.

Spaghetti, Zucchetti

Some girls collect shoes, others collect clothes, I collect kitchen tools. And of course handbags!!! What kind of girl would I be if I didn’t have at least one fashion fav. But I can honestly say that I have a special place in my heart for all things kitchen. And just like I’ve been eyeing that Kate Spade handbag, I have been eyeing a zoodle maker for quite some time. Today I finally got one!!!

Making Over The Old PB&J

I know I’ve said this before but I have many favorite foods, and among those favorites Peanut Butter and Jelly is right there at the top. There’s just something about the nuttiness of the peanuts and the sweet fruitiness of the jam that calls to me on so many levels.

Creamy, Cream Free Salmon Alfredo

If there is one thing that I love, it’s a good bowl of Alfredo pasta. I love it with fettuccini, linguini, spaghetti, it doesn’t matter what kind, there’s just something about the mixture of cream and pasta with a little chicken or shrimp that screams comfort and calls my name.

Mango Chutney

Over the past couple of weeks, I have posted recipes for Accra and Pholourie, but I only just realized, that I always pair them with Mango Chutney but I’ve never put a recipe for it. So I am going to rectify that right now.

Cayenne Garlic & Ginger Tea

I would be the first to admit that eating clean, gluten free and candida friendly is a difficult process that takes quite a bit of will power to stay on track. For the past couple of weeks, although I have been eating well, I’ve still been cheating. Having a little browning here and there, a glass of my favorite Merlot and to my own detriment cheese. So lets just say it’s been a rough couple of days.

Pholourie

Pholourie is one of those dishes that holds very fond memories for me.

As a child, after school mum would take us to the Savannah and we’d each get a bag of about 8 – 10 of these delicious split peas fried dough balls, with a little bag of mango chutney to dip them in. It’s such a simple thing, but so delicious that it was one of those recipes that I just had to recreate.

This recipe is so easy and simple, that you can mix the dry ingredients, leave them in a bag or container and just add the wet ingredients and its ready to use.

Salt Fish Accra

One of my favorite caribbean treats is Salt Fish Accra. Made with seasonings, salted cod, deep fried and served with mango or tamarind these fritters are deliciousness in every bite. Everyone in my family loves it, but of course, it’s made with flour and deep fried in vegetable oil, everything that I’m not supposed to eat. So it has been a quest of mine to recreate this recipe, just like so many others, so that I can enjoy all my faves in a healthy and allergy friendly way.
