Easy Toasted Pecans

OffTheWheatenPathTT

When it comes to add-ins for muffins, my pumpkin bread and hummingbird cake  Nuts (next to chocolate chips and cranberries) are my go to option.

Adding chopped nuts straight from the pack is an easy option, but if I have the time I like to give them a nice toasting to help bring out their flavor and add an extra punch to my recipes. And my favorite is Toasted Pecans.

Why Toast Nuts?

You may think that you’re adding the nuts to a recipe that is going to be baked anyway, but toasting them before adding to your recipe really makes a difference. When you add nuts to your batter before baking they can’t toast up because of the moisture.

But toasting them before adding them to your favorite recipe, they release their natural oils, intensify their flavor and make them crunchier so that when added to odor muffins, cake or breads they maintain their crunch.

It does add a couple or maybe 15 minutes to your recipe but the result is so worth it.

How to Toast Pecans?

I prefer the oven method, because I’m usually preheating the oven for my baked goods. So I put the nuts to toast, prep my recipe and wait for the Pecans to come out. Plus it’s super easy and gives me an even toasting.

But if you want to make a quick batch for topping a salad, try this option from The Pioneer Woman here.
