Homemade Pumpkin Spice Blend

OffTheWheatenPathTT

I love fall! The colours, the clothing and of course the treats that go along with the season like Pumpkin Spice. Since my sister moved to Canada, I usually spend fall with her and enjoy all the flavors and things I love. But with Covid, I haven’t been able to go. So this year I am bringing the fall flavors to me and first thing on the list is this easy Homemade Pumpkin Spice Blend.

Pumpkin Spice in Jar

When people hear pumpkin spice, they think you have to buy a ready made mix that comes in a package to get the right flavour, but making your own at home is so much easier. And being able to create a homemade pumpkin spice blend, especially in the Caribbean is a plus because it isn’t always easily available.

Spices for Pumpkin Spice in Spoons

What you need to make a Homemade Pumpkin Spice Blend

The ingredients for pumpkin spice is pretty simple. You will need the following spices all ground of course:

Sometimes I like to add a dash of cardamom too. It really complements the blend, but it isn’t a traditional ingredient in making pumpkin spice.

Then once you’ve measured them out, simply add to a jar, and mix well then store and use. How easy is that?

What can you do with your Homemade Pumpkin Spice Blend?

The possibilities are endless! You can use it as substitute in almost any recipe that asks for a spice like cinnamon.

I’ve made pumpkin spice banana bread with my one bowl banana bread recipe. I swapped the cinnamon for the homemade pumpkin spice blend and added about a 1/2 teaspoon more.

I use it along with my homemade pumpkin puree to make Pumpkin Spice lattes. Oh soo good!

I’ve even used it in granola to make a pumpkin spice granola that is great over yogurt.

Like I said the possibilities are endless!

I hope you enjoy this simple recipe and if you use it in any of your creations, tag us on social or comment and let us know! And look out for some more recipes using the blend coming soon.

Happy Fall Foodies!

Love always,
